My classes reflect my personal practice and explorations of the intersection between modern science and the ancient practice of yoga, integrating the principles of anatomy and alignment in concert with traditional yogic philosophy, mantra, meditation and chanting. I believe the transformative essence of yoga is tied to present moment awareness anchored by the practices of breath, bandha (internal energetic locks), and drishti (steady, one-pointed gaze). My greatest hope as a teacher is to help guide others along this path which has given great depth and meaning to my life.

I completed my 200-hour teacher training under the devoted instruction of Tara Rawson at Ananda Kula in Jacksonville, Florida. After moving to Carrboro to start my graduate studies in Neurobiology at UNC, I found my way to Heart of Yoga School and quickly felt at home in this loving, supportive community. Being immersed in this community inspired me to  continue my yogic studies, and this year I completed the 300-hour Veda Vinyasa Advanced Yoga Teacher Training here at Heart of Yoga School with Allison Dennis.

Outside of teaching my weekly class, I love to practice and teach AcroYoga (www.acroyoga.org). This year I have travelled to complete two 5-day training immersions: the AY Solar Immersion in Bend, Oregon with Chelsey and Jason Magness, and the AY Lunar Immersion in Orlando, Florida with Justin Caruso and Arianne Traverse. In the coming year I hope to facilitate more workshops, and host community events to inspire people to connect deeply with each other through divine play.
